NOT UNDER THE LAW; But The HOLY SPIRIT.

Question: Are Christians not now guided by the Holy Spirit rather than the Law?

The title is taken from another reason some persons give. What is the Holy Spirit? If you read about John the Baptist (Luke 1:15 “He shall be filled with the Holy Ghost/Spirit even from his mother’s womb”), Jesus (Matt 3:16, 4:1, 12:18, Luke 4:14) and some persons of the Old and New Testaments (Ex 28:3, 35:30-35; 2 Chron 15:1, 24:20, Num 11:17, 25; Jdg 14:19 Luke 1:41-2, 67), you would see they were either filled with the Holy Spirit or the spirit of God came upon them

and as a result they spoke the word of God, was given wisdom or the skill to perform tasks. Note in Ex 28:3 those chosen were “wise hearted”. So it could be said the Holy Spirit is God imparting His wisdom or words to you by inspiration. Some people excuse their wrong doing or do as they want by claiming to be guided by or under the Holy Spirit of the New Testament rather than the law or written word of the Old without realising they are one and the same. They claim the Holy Spirit told them either through prayer or other message form knowing it cannot necessarily be disproved (See 1Ti 4:1). They may pick New Testament texts which refer to the Holy Spirit guiding us etc. The same people accept the holy trinity: yet somehow think God the Father, His son and Holy Spirit could be working against each other. With one saying one thing and another something different. It is like one hand of your body stirring a pot with a spoon while the other hand is trying to take away the spoon or move the pot. This is not the unison of what is called the Trinity. Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one 1Jo 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. Joh 12:44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. (see also John 1:2-3; 8:58; Heb 1:2). They all take us to the same place, say and do the same thing without contradiction. You can take away one or two of the three and be left with the same instructions otherwise they will be opposing each other. God the father, Emmanuel (God with us), Holy Spirit (our teacher, etc in the absence of Jesus) Joh 16:7 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you” (see also Joh 7:39 Joh 14:16, 26, 15:26 that the Holy Spirit is from and speaks as God). Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak:

The texts people choose to quote are, of course correct; but it is their interpretation that is wrong. They need to test the “spirit” they claim is guiding them to their interpretation 1Jo 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1Jo 3:24 and he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abided in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. 1Jo 5:3 for this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 2Jo 1:9 whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

God gaves His spirit to those who obey Him Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.  Test the heard spirit it against the other two of the unity (trinity). What God the father said in the past and what Jesus His son did. If your interpretation is out of line, it is more than likely wrong. Joh 14:22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Joh 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, "if a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him". Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit manifest themselves to those, like the apostles, keeping all God’s commandments or sincerely wishing to above following custom. They may bring those who do not keep them a message (as this book or other method Ezra 1:1 God use people for His will) to keep them. Then leave your freewill to obey or excuse; but He does not continue to bless those transgressing His commandments 2Ch 24:20 In John 10:30 Jesus proclaims Himself and God as one. In Malachi 3:6 it states God changes not. Matt 28:20 Jesus instructs his disciples to “teach them to observe all things I have commanded you”. Meaning things which He and His father who are one, have commanded. James 2:10 who keeps the whole law, yet offend in one point of it is guilty of all. If Christians were no longer under the law after Christ, James would not be writing this text; but say we are no longer under the law. God requires Deu 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul. Hos 6:6 for I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. Especially when those offerings are polluted as in Mal 1:7-8.

It could not be any simpler. He created us; but from the beginning were beguiled and disobey (Gen 3:6), sinning continually (Gen 6:5). He started again with Noah making a covenant not to bring another earth destroying flood. Instead identified and separated a genealogy of humans unto Himself through Abraham and Isaac. They were also beguiled by surrounding pagans and disobeyed. He sent prophets and lastly his son Jesus. Yet many still do not want to understand. 2Ti 4:1, 3-4 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
"And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables". One cannot make someone understand something when it is profitable not to understand it. That is how Christians get beguiled by satan showing them profits and pleasures of the world and diminishing that of the after life. Making them think they can offer Him an hour or more of a strange day of worship Sunday, then go about their business. He set apart and sanctified the seventh day Saturday for His service and the whole day not a part.

Jesus would not dishonour His father by changing their commandments; everything He did was to glorify His father “that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (Jesus was present from creation and took part in Genesis 2:3 when the 7th day was made holy etc). Nor would the Holy Spirit go against the written word of God. Nor can any person change the written word of God. If it is not clearly in the bible, it could be your interpretation. People are always blaming the Holy Spirit for their own thoughts, beliefs etc. If it is not categorically backed up by the bible in total (not singular text) then it is not from the Holy Spirit but unholy, spirit of error. Then some say, if God wants me to change, He would tell me. He has a written Bible on the subject with clear commandments, history of those who did not follow His ways and those who did. Why should He visit every person individually giving them personal messages all similar in content? You have a manual, follow it. He never did that with his Israelites speaking to each individually on a one to one basis. Even when Aaron and Miriam or Korah and the other elders desired a word from God they were instead punished. Nor did Jesus succumb to this suggestion in Luke 16:29 Lazarus and the dead rich story. No personal message was sent back to his living relatives. Jesus said, like everyone else, they have the records of Moses and the prophets (scripture). Many places in the Old and New Testament's Jesus, apostles etc state "search the scriptures" for the answer. God spoke to Moses not each person. Moses recorded God's words before he died for future mankind what more do you want! For anything else such evidence would be accepted, a manual followed.

We are to seek God not Him us. Is it because of Isa 30:9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Isa 30:10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits: Jer 5:31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof? Gentiles should not become the lost sheep as the bible does not say another Messiah is coming to teach them.

I heard the words of a song which said sentiments as “follow me God wherever I go”. That is the problem; people have adopted the wrong understanding that God is to follow them rather than they seek and follow God, His way not their own. In Mark 10:50 Jesus asked Bartimaus to come to Him. Jesus could easily have gone to him; but that is not the way it is to be. We need to show our faith by seeking God in a place where He is then accepting His terms and commandments.  Satan can be that spirit guiding you. Cor 11:14-15 “and no marvel; for satan himself is transformed into an angel of light”. His purpose is to deceive you by hook or by crook even as an angel or spirit of light to keep you in darkness in the belief you are following God’s true way. Only to find out when it is too late and you are his forever. We are to make sure we are not subject to the wrong spirit, which Jesus gave His chosen 70 power to cast out. Imagine you dropped a diamond ring; but as you looked for it, someone emptied a crate of false but similar appearance glass stone rings in its midst. Eventually you may give up looking for the real thing or accept a fake for the real.

In Matt 4:1-12, satan came to Jesus when He was hungry or weak. Satan may come to us when we are in problems and tempt us to let him solve it. We may get hooked on his way like a drug. The devil took Jesus from the desert to two places, even to the holy city and pinnacle of the temple (church). How and does it not show his power and methods? The devil asked Jesus to worship him; what he wanted all along via try to get Jesus’ trust. Same deceiving method via false day of worship. It took someone as strong and knowledgeable of the word as Jesus to withstand him. Jesus knew His scriptures in total and was able to counter the devil’s use of the same. A test of God’s prophets or messengers is not only must their prophesies come true (not by guess or being vague) but they must also coincide with all prior revelations and scripture. In the Old Testament, Eze 13:3 and Deut 13:2-4 guides. In the N.T. Paul and John taught that the content of the message already received was the standard by which to judge any new message even if it came from an angel (Gal 1:8) or a spirit masquerading as God’s Spirit (1 Joh 4:1-3). Hence one reason why in Matt 7:22 Jesus denounces those claiming to prophesy in His name.

The written word of God as He instructed through His prophets are the same as Jesus’ living example and subsequent Holy Spirit guidance. The Holy Spirit would not say anything contrary to or change the written word of God. How would you feel if you gave specific instructions to someone to do something, which they saw others from you doing in the past? They do not do it, claiming someone told them not to because you had changed your mind. Would you not tell them that person was not from you? So Christians, when a pastor or spirit tells you to do or not to do something, check it against what God told others to do in the old testament. What Jesus did in the New Testament. Then do the same. The chances are, if it was good enough for them, it will be good enough for you. Anything different is a risky gamble.

Joh 14:26 “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you”. The Holy Spirit brings to remembrance what the bible says not something new. If you do not know your bible thoroughly, you may not be equipped to remember. Act 5:32 “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” The Holy Spirit is given to those keeping God’s commandments. Any other messenger may be an impersonator. Act 7:51 “Ye stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do you”. Are you doing what God commanded or what suits you? Can you make a “U” turn or are you an addict to custom and theology of men or denomination?

The devil asked Jesus to worship him; what he wanted all along via trying to get Jesus’ trust. The same deceiving method via a false day of worship. First he took a third of the angels from heaven. Second, tried to take Jesus from God. Third to take humans from God or worshipping God on His sanctified seventh day. I remind you satan targets the head or leaders of the group; Adam and Peter.  I hope readers know the real name of who we call Jesus is Yahshua, commonly spelt Yeshua.
