Question: Does a miracle performing church mean God is there?
Remember there have always been the satan’s miracle workers. The magicians of Moses’ and Daniel’s times, to today’s devil worshippers, witch doctors etc. Acts 8:9-10 states “But there was a certain man, called Simon, which before time in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. Act 13:6, 8 …they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus: …But Elymas the sorcerer …seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.
Act 19:19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.7:21-24 “in thy name” have we not done this and that, yet Jesus replied “I never knew you, depart from me you workers of iniquity”. See also Acts 19:15. Such is the parallel between real and fake. John 7:24 “not according to the appearance; but judge righteous judgement”. Miracle workers have never been afraid to masquerade as and call themselves persons of God and use Jesus’ name. It is a lucrative business. Yet none of these miracle workers were of Jesus.
God can use anyone for His purpose. A heathen, non-believer etc to heal or punish a believer. It happened many times in the Old Testament with Israel, Judah and even Jonah. The healing of an individual could be either the Holy Spirit working through the healer, who could be good or bad, to bring healing to a deserving person. Maybe so that person can then witness to and convert a neighbour who God has called and that neighbour ends up keeping the Sabbath. God works in mysterious ways and His ways are not ours. Job 1:16 “fire of God falls from heaven”. With the catastrophes of Job we know it was the work of satan. Yet this miracle of the falling fire from heaven was attributed to God by the servant who saw it. Satan can do a miracle to deceive and cause us to attribute it to God. Maybe to make you stay in or join his false parallel system for what you hope to get out of it rather than what you should give to God regardless of your desires or illness. In Job 4:12-21 and chapter 5 Eliphaz rebukes Job according to a vision and voice speaking to him. In the end of Job we read God punishing and rebuking Eliphaz for getting it wrong. Obviously the visions and voices received by Eliphaz were not from God. So, remember, test the spirits guiding you with the written word of God and actions of His former prophets.
Why did Jesus / does God heal people? To show that He is God or confirm a person as His prophet, from Him. In Num 12:13 Moses proved he was from God when his authority was challenged, 1 Kings 17:24 After Elijah had raised the widows son, “And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth”.2 Kings 20:5 Hezekiah is cured through God. Luke 10:9 “heal the sick and say unto them, the kingdom of God is come nigh unto thee”. John 12:38, 42, 44 “Lord who have believed our report and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed” “Nevertheless, among the chief rulers also many believed on him...” “Jesus cried and said he that believe on me, believieth not on me, but on him that sent me”. John 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither has this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him”.
Healing, fabricated or otherwise, is not to bring fame, glory, riches or a following to a human; but believers to God solely, nothing else. An example of such purpose is this testimony of a lay preacher who got no material reward on this earth for his efforts. (See book Have I Got It Right God for continuation).
Lastly, 2Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
