YOU FOLLOW THE LAW, I WILL FOLLOW CHRIST.
Photo 1, of a crowd going to work. There could be some people of YHWH God in this crowd. Photo 2, sporting or other recreation event: there also may be some people of God in this crowd. Photo 3, common church worship. There are probably no people of YHWH God in this crowd, at that moment anyway.
So how do we know which people are of God in the various crowd photos? They look similar. Is it by the way they dress?
Photo 4, Crowd Photo of president Obama’s inauguration and of Trump's. Some people can tell lies about the same facts i.e. who had the biggest crowd turn out. Claims of false news. We get the same with would be believers and teachers of God of the bible.
Photo 4, of the earth from out of space. In this earth there are very few people following YHWH God their creator. Psa_14:2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. Rev_18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
I took the title from a reply a lady got when talking to a friend about their difference in the worship of the same God of the bible. It sounds like one of those catch phrases big television church pastors come up with to justify their theology. That difference, or the main one I suppose, being the day / days of their worship. Two opposing beliefs cannot be truth. Only one or none is truth and only one of the ladies can be correct unless both are wrong. I think one main error followers of Christ make is thinking He came to replace the part of God’s law which contains things we are not to do or to do as have no other god except me, do not murder and honour your parents. He did not. He came to give a better forgiveness system through His sacrifice for those who transgress the list of dos and don'ts.
So how is God looking down from heaven going to know who are His children? Because He is going to look on the inside of each person not their outside. What is on the inside? Our heart, manifested in our actions. So God is going to look for certain actions or lifestyle to see the condition of our hearts. Now many people may think about the fruits of the spirit, actions to fellow man; but rarely do they consider their actions to God. Actions scripture says as keeping the primary part of His commandments. Here are some words of God or His prophets.
Isa 51:7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings. Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Deu 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!
Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; Rom 2:13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Rom 2:15 Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another; [see also Deu 32:46; Psm 37:30-1; 40:8].
So whether we think we are under the law or not, follow the law, Christ or not Rom 2:12 says those who do not keep the law will perish. God the Father of Christ emphasised following the law.
Let us see if Christ contradicted. Mat_22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Mar_12:30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Mar 12:32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he: Mar 12:33 And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. Mar 12:34 And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God.
Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Mat_12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Mat_12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
I hope I do not have to break down what is evil. We did a study on that some months ago. We should all recall it is basically going against God’s commandments. GOD SAID BE HOLY AS I AM HOLY AND HE GAVE ISRAEL COMMANDMENTS TO KEEP BY WHICH THEY BECAME HOLY, LIKE HIM. Yahshua and the Father are one. He also is holy so keeping the commandments makes us also like Him.
We have read what both Father and Son said and they do not contradict. Let me now join them together scripturally.
Psa 40:7-8 “Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart”. Yahshua was heading to His father in heaven by doing His will, using the laws and commandments as His guide. Yahshua confirmed He had not come to destroy or change the “Law”. In fact, He came to magnify it. Show how it is to be kept. Shine a light on it and make it clear through clarification and examples. Isa 42:21 “The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable”. Yahshua was the living Law. Scripture speaks of their attributes in the same way. Truth (Joh 14:6, Psalm 119:142), holy (Acts 4:27, Rom 7:12), perfect (Heb 5:9, Psalm 19:7) righteous (1 Cor 1:30, Psa 119:172), light (Joh 8:12, Pro 6:23), just (Acts 22:14, Rom 7:12), abide in forever (Joh 8:35, Psa 111:7-8), should be in the heart (Eph 3:17, Psa 40:8), gives freedom, no condemnation and liberty (Rom 8:1, James 2:12).
Rejecting the Law is rejecting Yahshua and visa versa just like Israel’s rejecting of Moses was rejecting the law of God, which brings wrath (Joh 3:36, Neh 13:18). Yahshua was pure; in Him was no sin. 1 Joh 3:4 defines sin as transgression of the Law of which Yahshua was part. “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law”. Therefore, how can any Christian professing to follow Christ think they are no longer under the law; under Yahshua’s directive? That they are now free to commit sin against God and man (Rom 7:7)? Psa 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: Psa 19:8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. Psa 19:11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. (See Psa 119:18, 97-8, 115, 165) Psa 89:34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
What is the reward or wages of sin, breaking the Law, going against God or Yahshua? Death (Rom 6:23)! Separation from God. Paul talks about righteousness of the law or faith in Yahshua. Which is self righteousness of one’s perfection, if there are any, or forgiveness through the Messiah.
Rom_2:26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? Rom_10:5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. Php_3:6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. Php_3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Some are taught they are free from the bondage of the law. A negative spin is put on the law to turn people against it. This is not a new trick, it happened during the historic merger between Rome’s pagan religion and Christians. There is a positive side to this binding concept. When the Jews in Exodus marked their door posts, they were bound under God’s promise and protection. Similarly a person is protected by the legal system under which they are bound. Thus being bound by the law has its positive benefits of protection and blessings as God states in the Old Testament. However, the bondage spoken of by Paul in Gal 4:9 is not of the Law. Bondage was being in Egypt without the law. Freedom and protection came from leaving Egypt represented by the rest of the world and living under God’s laws in His kingdom. Thus if there is any of the commandments you are not keeping, even one, it means you do not yet know Christ, only possibly, part of Him. 1 Joh 2:3-4 “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him”.
So Father and son are not saying anything different. Paul actual concisely answers this thought Gal_3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: Gal_2:17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
Similarly to the gathering of the crowds in the opening photos, there were also gathering of crowds in the bible. For us and God to know whether any of His people were in the crowds certain criteria were used. When and for what purpose were the people gathering and what actions took place.
Remember Exodus 32 when Moses went up to speak to God the people gathered, had a worship session and did certain things as if it was to God who just redeemed them out of Egypt’s bondage. Exo 32:5 And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD. Exo 32:6 And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. Exo 32:7 And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: Exo 32:8 They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
They called it a worship to God; but He said they had corrupted themselves and His way and wanted to wipe them out.
Num 25:1 And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab. Num 25:2 And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods. Num 25:3 And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. Num 25:4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.
Another crowd, sacrifices and worship; but against God. We should know the account of Daniel and his colleagues not joining the others to worship the statute or bow to it. Daniel and colleagues kept to the ways of God and did not mix Dan_6:5 Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.
2Ki 10:20 And Jehu said, Proclaim a solemn assembly for Baal. And they proclaimed it. 2Ki 10:21 And Jehu sent through all Israel: and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was full from one end to another. 2Ki 10:22 And he said unto him that was over the vestry, Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal. And he brought them forth vestments. 2Ki 10:23 And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only. 2Ki 10:24 And when they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings, Jehu appointed fourscore men without, and said, If any of the men whom I have brought into your hands escape, he that letteth him go, his life shall be for the life of him. 2Ki 10:25 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains, Go in, and slay them; let none come forth. And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal. 2Ki 10:26 And they brought forth the images out of the house of Baal, and burned them. 2Ki 10:27 And they brake down the image of Baal, and brake down the house of Baal, and made it a draught house unto this day.
You should also know the famous account of the Elijah and mount Carmel battle of the gods with the prophets of baal. Again that was the wrong worship system despite being the national one proclaimed by Ahab king and queen Jezebel. So are we to follow the law of land? Elijah stayed in his cave rather than go to the congregations of Baal worship as did the 100 prophets of 1king 8:4 and the seven thousand who God said had not bowed to Baal. In other words they did not join the crowd in following the counterfeit imposed national system.
To cut down on time I will in summary refer to various worship systems and gatherings or crowds in the New Testament. Paul in Athens, about Acts 17:22 which gives the “unknown god” incident. Acts 16 a verse of which says Act 16:21 And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans. Act_14:12 And they called Barnabas, Jupiter; and Paul, Mercurius, because he was the chief speaker. Act_14:13 Then the priest of Jupiter, which was before their city, brought oxen and garlands unto the gates, and would have done sacrifice with the people.
Act_19:35 And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
So in the bible we have mention of various gatherings of worship; but to which gatherings did people of God go? The nearest or that of YHWH God, His system and times. We read in Acts 2 Jew and gentile proselytes came to Jerusalem to follow God’s system at His times. Of Cornelius a Roman gentile praying at the times of that system
Act_3:1 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
Act_10:3 He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius. ... Act_10:30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,.
And other non Jews also joined the Jews of that system in the synagogues at the Sabbath times
Act 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
Act 13:16 Then Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience. Act 13:26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent.
So in the New Testament, the following of Christ, meant the following of the law of God His Father.
Now pagans may be in the gatherings of God as the devil sends his into their congregations; but people of God do not go to pagan events nor honour their times. Regardless of whether they play some nice worship songs, have nice motivation sermons etc. I say “nice” rather than “good” as only things of God are good. In other words just like God put a difference between His people and the deceivers, His people also put a difference between places and days of their worship to those of the counterfeit. They may look and sound similar; but are of a different system. 1Co 10:20 But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. 1Co 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.
We cannot go by what the promoters call it i.e. the worship of the God of the bible. Nor even from its content and appearance; but whether it meets the holy criteria of God. Remember Aaron got it wrong in Ex 32 when Moses went up to the mount. In the bible persons may bring an animal as an offering to God; but unless it was of their first born, God may class it as unholy. If they ate a sacrifice on the third day rather than the first two, He also calls it unholy (Lev 7:18; 19:7). So as we know there are counterfeits of almost everything. Brand names, designs, fabric as leather or silk, even our food and money.
Those who claim to follow Christ and not the law do not seem to know from where He came, returning nor the purpose of His coming. Eph 2:11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; ... [Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:] His purpose was to reconcile the world, Jew and Gentile, back to God which is the keeping of His commandments. When we are following someone, it is easier if we know their destination. If we get lost or take our eyes off them for a moment, we can move in the direction or cast our eyes in the direction of the route to the destination and catch up with them or pick them out of the crowd. If we do not know their destination, we could be lost forever, especially if we move off the spot where they last saw us. Believers last saw Christ walking the road of keeping His Father’s commandments from birth to death. The commandments which God said if we follow them we shall live. So is Christ’s destination not obvious? 1Jn_2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
The truth of the matter is people are not following Christ; but Paul. Paul’s epistles has become their bible rather than the words of God. He is their god. I am going to digest a little in order to reluctantly, from the bible, correct some people on what is scripture and what is not. Paul’s epistles are NOT scripture. Scripture refers to the law and Prophets both of which speak of the Messiah.
Joh_7:42 Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? Mar 15:28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors. Luk 4:21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
Luk 24:25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Luk 24:26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? Luk 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Joh 19:36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. Joh 19:37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
Paul never called his epistles scripture. When he was teaching there was no New Testament nor recording of his or the other apostles writings. Their use of the word “scripture” only referred to that which existed, the writings of the law of Moses (commandments) and history of the prophets.
Act 17:2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, Act 17:3 Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. Act 17:4 And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few. Act 17:5 But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy,....
Here we have a crowd, probably dressed the same; of different backgrounds, Jew, Gentile, men and women; but identified as persons of God by the time and place of their gathering and following of the same teaching. Now I must make sure we understand “but the Jews which believed not” does not apply to all the Jews, only some.
Act 17:10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Act 17:12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few.
Act 18:28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, showing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ. 1Co 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1Co 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (see also Mat 26:56).
So the “all scripture” does not include ANY of Paul's epistles. I am not saying we cannot use them as he tries to explain in lay peoples’ terms the Old Testament; but he cannot speak for nor replace what God instructed through the law and prophets. In those days individual listeners did not have a copy of the scriptures, God’s words. We do, so we can go directly to God’s clear instructions rather than the confusing ones of Paul from where difference of opinions come.
Just as we cannot fully understand the ways of God, they cannot fully understand the ways and writings of Paul. To fully understand Paul’s writings we have to be learned in the source of his teachings, the scriptures, the Old Testament. Peter recognised this shortcoming of some of the new believers of the time.
2Pe 3:15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 2Pe 3:16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
They may say Paul kept the commandments inclusive of holy days of God because he was a Jew. That he also apparently taught gentiles, as them, they do not have to keep the commandments. That could not be further from the truth.
Paul said Act 24:14 But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets: Act 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
Rom 15:17 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God. Rom 15:18 For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, 2Ti_3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
It was not only the apostles who taught about the Messiah. Others who understood the writings of the Old Testament also were able to teach about Yahshua the Messiah from it.
Act 18:24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. Act 18:25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. Act 18:26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.
One argument of those who claim to follow Christ rather than the law of God is that we can worship God any day and should worship Him every day. That is true and in fact is what the apostles did. At the third hour of every day as I showed above with the Cornelius scriptures. As Daniel did three times a day and as David in Psalm 55:17 says. So actually within the law is the provision to worship God everyday. However, He still set one weekly day and seven annual days, as times of Holy convocations in addition to the daily. We should all know the principle of God; that we cannot replace something of His choosing with something of ours including days He appointed or cancel them altogether.
Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. Mat_15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
Mar_7:6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Why was Elijah calling them hypocrites? What was it they promised to do and did not? Keep commandments of God.
So we can offer God all the praise and worship we want as in the worship photos; but it would miss the mark if we are not even the doing the first of the commandments, to love God which is Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. Joh 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Those who claim to follow Christ, claim they do it through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Messiah in the verse above makes the receiving of the comforter, the Holy spirit, conditional on keeping the commandments. “Keep my commandments and I will...”. We cannot escape from the fact, keeping the commandments is the sign of the spirit of truth. 1Jn_5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
Num 15:39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: Num 15:40 That ye may remember, and do all my commandments, and be holy unto your God.
Mat_13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
Mat 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: Mat 15:20 These are the things which defile a man:
Luk 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Luk 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, Luk 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: Luk 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Joh 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Act 8:34 And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man? Act 8:35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. Act 8:36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? Act 8:37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
The son of God is the word of God is the commandments of God. To follow one is to follow the other. One person cannot be following the law and the other Christ yet they are going separate directions, living different lives and heading to separate destinations. They should be doing exact the same thing. Avoiding sin by keeping the commandments of God and seeking forgiveness for repented sins through faith in God’s son, the Messiah who many call the anointed or Christ in English. If they are doing different things then the one following pastors teaching of Christ may be following 2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. Leading to a false Christ or anti Christ.
Pro 6:23 For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: Joh 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Joh_14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The creator of the title “you follow the law, I follow Christ” and those of similar beliefs and teachings, in my opinion, fit into 2Cor 11:13. They have not been transformed by the Word of God nor the Holy spirit; but transformed themselves. For purpose, they know.
Time restricted me giving all the scriptures mentioned above showing that Yahshua is the Law in flesh. To follow Him to follow the law; if you understand it. Hope you look them up. Here is an example. The law is light, the Messiah is light. Isa_8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Numerous scriptures, including those spoken by Yahshua and the apostles, refer back to the law and prophets. Some may say the testimony is the Messiah. It could equally be that of the prophets of the Old Testament; but the verse states those who do not adhere to both law and testimony have no light. Light is truth. Truth is whole truth not partial. Exclude the law and your words are not the truth.
Num 15:37 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Num 15:38 Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: Num 15:39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and DO THEM; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring: Num 15:40 That ye may remember, and do ALL my commandments, and BE HOLY unto your God.
[Yahshua and the Father are one. He also is holy so keeping the commandments makes us also like Him.Numerous times God has said we are to be holy as he is holy. Being holy is repeated in the New Testament Eph_1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Eph_5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. In Num 15:40 God says keeping ALL His commandments make us holy. Anything else is to use our own heart or eyes to understand.
When God looks down on us from heaven He will be able to identify us from the light in our hearts. His law and testimony of His son. It would not matter if we are fat, short, in the biggest crowd or in the dark.
Mat 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Mat 24:41 Two grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Mat 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
You follow the law, I follow Christ. Let us happily walk together in the same doctrine to our same Father, YHWH our creator and both so that we both get taken to Him.
Shalom.
