SabbathS to be Saved
Before I get into the topic, let me outline some facts from scriptures and writings of the bible which sets some boundaries to our understanding of the same. They should show one faith for all, Jew and gentile. Faith, grace or belief in the Messiah does not exclude us from keeping God’s laws passed on through Moses. Jews and Gentiles were in the same place at the same weekly and annual times to hear these laws of God as recorded by Moses. Lastly, God has not cast away nor replaced the Jews yet is not a respecter of persons.
Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: Act 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Mat 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? Mat 19:17 … if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law Jam 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? Jam 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.
Rom 6:15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Rom 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid.
Rom 11:1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people (Israel, the Jews) ? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
Gal 2:17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin (transgression of the law)? God forbid. Gal 3:21 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: 2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
Act 13:26 Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. Act 13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath. Act 15:20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
Act 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day. Acts 2:1 the day of Pentecost , the annual holy day of Lev 23:16 Act 2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. Act 2:10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Act 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.
Paul taught nothing against the law and prophets. Repentance was taught by John Baptist, Yahshua and apostles.
When giving out some leaflets for today’s study, I was asked what was the topic? I said “what is needed to get to heaven or eternal salvation”. The person replied, we only need Jesus. That could be correct; but what do we need Him to do, is it not to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness? And to achieve that, do we not need to confess our sins? Well that is where the deceiver comes in. In any kingdom one is not rewarded for the laws they keep; but punished for the one or ones they break. If they break one they are said to have broken the law. They can keep every law in the judicial system yet not get a reward; but let them break one and they are destined to punishment if caught. With God, there is no escape. Nowhere to hide from his knowledge or judgement. He will know; but may administer mercy which some people know as grace.
So let us not get confused between Him dying for all or calling all while they were sinners and yet only saving those who repent. He did not die for those who have the righteousness of the law for scarcely for a righteous man would one die (Rom 5:7; 1 Pet 4:18). He died for those who have the curse and punishment of the law, death (Gal 3:13; Rom 6:23). Yet we must understand His death, grace and cleansing in the context of repentance Luk 13:3 and 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Ok, onto the topic. God gave us two distinct set of instructions. The first from Exodus 20:1 to 24:6. If we disregard verse 20:18-21 His first set of instructions would have been uninterrupted as written I the book of 24:4. These included specific holy times as seen in 23:12-17. The second set was from 25:1-18; but the account starts in 24:12. Using the first set of instructions, 20:1-24:8, I am going to make a bold statement then try scripturally to justify it. “You have to keep the correct Sabbaths to be saved. However, this does not mean keeping the Sabbaths, the Law or works saves you!” When I say Sabbaths I mean those of Leviticus 23 which includes the seventh day Sabbath of Exodus 20:8 and those of Exodus 23:12-17. I focus on these on the assumption many people Christians and non Christians keep the other laws as do not murder, do not steal etc
When I say keeping the Law does not save you, I say it in the context of we are saved by God’s mercy called His grace as stated in Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
- So how do we reconcile these two apparent contradictory terms?
The answer is in understanding the difference to requiring something to be saved and that thing doing the saving. I may need a driving license to apply for or get a job, yet it does not guarantee me the job. Only the employer can give me the job. I may need a ticket to catch a plane; but only the authorised person can permit me to board and fly. If I, for instance misbehave, I could be thrown off.
So to understand when one is saved we must distinguish the difference between a temporal state and a permanent one if the prior state can return. A plaster on a wound to stop the bleeding, cancer remission through some medication when later the cancer returns with a vengeance, even a flu or virus where a course of medication has to be taken and if the course is not completed the flu returns. Form your own analogies to understand the difference between requiring something and that thing actually guaranteeing you the outcome.
- Now back to the bible. Sin or a sinful person cannot inherit the kingdom of eternal life. They cannot get through the gate to come before God. Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Through the gates as in through faith. Each had a prerequisite; a doing. By the time we come to the entrance of the gate, we must have been cleansed of our sins and nolonger be a sinful person. Luk 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Rev 22:11 He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. Any transformation must take place before passing through the gate. Must be made while we are still alive and since tomorrow is not promised to anyone, the quicker the better. Look at the recent Paris attack. Two in one year, January and November. 1Jn 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the evil sinneth from the beginning. 1Jn 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,
- 1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
Since sin is transgression of the Law and the Law gives us works to do of which keeping the Sabbaths is one. We must be either keeping them or be cleansed of the transgression BEFORE we die. To be Cleansed we accept our error, repent and ask YHWH God to save us by His mercy / grace through faith in His son Yahshua’s blood. To repent is to cease from doing the wrong action and begin to do the righteous action. 2Pe 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; So Noah preached righteousness. The Law of God is good and righteous. So it is fair to say Noah was a preacher of the law of God.
- Some people think we are first saved and then we keep the good works to the end of our lives to get into the eternal life kingdom. Others say the keeping comes before the saving. The difference is in the when is one saved? At baptism or on judgement day after enduring to the end. The correct understanding of what it is to be saved is needed to get the right one. If baptism is being saved, then we get the problem of people who back slide or commit sins after baptism. Joh 6:66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. There is a similar saying of Paul seen later. Christianity commonly teach baptism saves. This, in my opinion is not so. That is an acceptance of the calling to be saved. Again understand the difference between “unless one is born again they cannot be saved” i.e. a requirement and the actual saving similar to the starting point of the Sabbath. Unlike Eph 2:8 in relation to grace, the sentence does not say BY baptism one is saved! In fact the first criteria given by Peter was in Acts 2:28 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Yahshua for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Similar to John the Baptist who taught repentance, turning away from one’s sins, then be baptised.
6a. Here are a list of analogies that ought to clarify the difference between a requirement to get something and getting the thing. You know when it rains on the ground or the ocean waves break onto a beach unless a hole is dug no water is gathered? Well I would be quite correct in saying “unless you dig a hole you cannot catch water; but digging the hole does not catch you water”. Unless it rains or the water is provided at the point of your hole, you will not gather any water. In 1 kings 17:7 or 18: no matter how many holes the people of the land had dug they would not have caught any water during the drought. However, if they did not have any river beds or holes dug when the rain came, the water would have disappeared. Ask any farmer about irrigation. Similarly, by chapter 18 I would be right in saying “the priests of Baal need offerings to make sacrifices; but having an offering does not make a sacrifice”. They had the offering, did the dancing and shouting, yet no sacrifice was made. By the time it came to Elijah’s turn, he did a similar offering; but God made it a sacrifice.
There are numerous examples in the bible where one needed something or to do something correctly as a precursor to getting something through faith. Heb_11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Naaman and his leprosy in 2 king 5. Hebrew’s 11 gives a list of persons who did an action in faith. Enoch in verse 5, before his translation, pleased God. Verse 6, “he that comes to God” does so to get the “reward” for things prior done.
However, the event I will use is that of Luke 5:5. Again I would be right in saying one needs a fishing rod or net to catch fish; but having a rod or a net does not catch you fish.
Luk 5:4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. Luk 5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net. Luk 5:6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. Luk 5:7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.
Simon and others with him had and did what was needed to catch fish in the place where fishes were; yet did not catch fish. He needed a net to catch fish; but having a net did not catch him fish. On this occasion, only when he did it in obedience to the word of God or His son, that he caught fish through obedience and faith. There are many humans who keep the commandments or most of them either via another god or the law of the land. They neither steal, murder or covet anything of another. Even having weekly and annual days or weekend of rest. Yet this does not biblically save them. Like Naaman and others they have to do it in the way and in the place prescribed by God either through Moses or Elijah with Naaman. The weekly Sabbath is 6th day sunset to seventh. Not midnight to midnight Saturday or Sunday. Annual ones are neither man’s set bank holi days; but God set holy days of Leviticus 23. Ofcourse these are in addition to the other commandments of God. Many may have the faith; but without the works of the obedience as spoken by James 1:22 “be doers of the word and not hearers only or you are deceiving yourselves”.
Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? Here James implies no. or as Paul says in Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Jas 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
This is exactly what Simon did; showed his faith by his obedient works. It was not his works that caught them the fish. They had previously done the works all night. However, through their hard labour and fishing net Yahshua showed his grace through their faith. Without the labour they would not have caught the fish.
Jas 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
Jas 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Jas 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Jas 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
Solely believing and having faith in God and his son is insufficient. The devil has the same belief i.e. knowledge of who they are and what they can do; but does not the works of God. By having the belief without the works one is no different to the devil. Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
As I have said, the principle is throughout the bible. A former action is needed by us to achieve a desired result of God. 1Co 3:6 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
So, back to the two options of when is one saved. First saved and then keeping the good works to the end of our lives to get into the eternal life kingdom or the keeping comes before the actual saving? The latter of the two options makes complete sense without flaws. There is a comprehensive study article on the topic for those who wish it.
- The only way the former can make sense is if one’s former AND FUTURE sins are cleansed at baptism. But suppose future sins are not acknowledged or repented i.e either one continues a sinful lifestyle or refuses to accept they are committing a sin? Another flaw. An analogy one has used of being saved at baptism is that of being rescued from a house on fire; but if one returns to the burning house after being rescued it is not the rescuers’ fault. I cannot see how that equates to being saved if the threat remains. That at best is a temporal state. A rescue NOT a saving. Running into a police station or the arrest of the culprit is not safety until they are permanently locked away in prison or killed. Even on release from prison some victims live in fear unless given new identities and hidden away. A fireman would advise not to return to an apparent extinguished firework or smouldering ashes unless it is totally put out by douching it with water. Scripture confirms the risk of leaving the threat accessible 2Pe 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. Mat 12:45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Joh 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. Deu 12:2 Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:
The precedent set by God is to utterly destroy things that can cause one to return to sinning otherwise the threat remains as a snare to destroy you cause loss of eternal salvation. Moses did it when he ground the golden calves into powder, the people of Acts 19:19 which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men and if we are trying to turn away from worldly music we do not store them up in a closet; but destroy them to reduce the possibility of returning to that way of life.
1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1Jn 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.
John makes it clear there are conditions to the cleansing. Do not walk or continue to walk in darkness (sin). Walk and continue to walk in the light. If we sin we must confess it. If we deny sinning as those who do not recognise not keeping the Sabbaths is transgression of the Law, we make the Word of God a liar as it says transgression of the Law, of which the Sabbaths are, is sin. Rom 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written,
So a temporal reprieve is a rescue not a saving. Just ask a road side car breakdown assistance service. It never means your car will not breakdown anymore. So they call it a rescue! Other examples are animal rescue’s where there are taken to a shelter awaiting a better home. If none is found and the rescue centre runs out of funds to maintain them, they may be humanely put to sleep. Homeless families, children or adults in domestic violence homes given temporary shelter until a permanent solution can be found for them. All are called out and rescued from their lifestyle in the hope of a better life. They have not seen the better life; but hope for it. This resembles the message of the gospel. We are called out of the world and in faith conduct ourselves in a different way than the world in the hope we will get the reward promised to us by our creator. Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Anyone can give a rescue, a temporal state, including God; but only God can gave a permanent saving from the wages of sin, the second death. IT IS A ONCE AND FOR ALL time SAVING. Once He has given it, none can take it away. Joh 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. Joh 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
- So this is my analogy of how it works. You are invited to and arrive at a banquet, concert or other event and come to the entrance where there are security guards or Cherubims as in Genesis 3:24. You are on the guest list, have a ticket, have paid the fee or the equivalent of found sinless so are let in. In other words you are found written in the guest book of life, keeping the commandments etc as in Matthew 19:17; Luke 10:26; Rev 3:5 and 21:27.
For those who do not have the entry requirement, they have to go and get it. Befriend and be known by the host to get on the guest list, buy a ticket, start keeping the commandments in total. These they get from the son of God the host. This is where faith in His blood comes in. His blood cleanses you of your sins, if you go to him, confess, repent and walk as he walked. Similar to Luk 17:3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him. Luk 17:4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.
The only problem is, you only have until you die. A very short unknown time. Failure to take prompt action could result in you coming to the eternal gate and being told Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
- So, if the saving is when one actually gets in through the gate, then prior to that it is a calling to do good works and keep the faith in order to get the grace through the faith. The keeping comes before the saving! Think of it in this way. Those of you who travel through airports know there is a barrier that only passengers with boarding passes can go through. Before going through that gate, you can do whatever shopping you want, speak to whom you want and even go out of the airport; but once it is time for your plane to fly and you have not gone through that gate, you may hear a last call for flight number 1 to heaven. If you do not respond to that calling the flight leaves without you. Once you pass through the gate, you can nolonger mix with those outside it. There is a gulf between you and them just like the story of the rich man and Lazarus. Here is a few verses of the account.
Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. Luk 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. Luk 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Luk 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
Luk 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
- Whether you believe one is saved at baptism or on their judgement day (being granted entry to eternal life) is not the main issue providing one accepts sin or a remaining sinful person cannot enter the kingdom. Sin being transgression of the Law. Now if you wish to keep the commandments after being baptised; that is fine, providing it is before you die.
- I ought to add one is assumed to be keeping the Law of God or of a land until they break it. Innocent until proven guilty. Until one has parked on a double yellow line they are keeping that law. It is the same with the commandments. I say this because the thief on the cross is commonly used to justify one can get saved without keeping the Law. In the world’s judicial system, once one has served their sentence, that crime can no longer be used against them. The thief on the cross was forgiven of his sin(s) by Yahshua. When said in Luk 23:42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. He showed he had faith in Yahshua as the son of God. From that time he was forgiven he died without commit further sins. In other words he kept the commandments of God and had the faith. He could then approach the gate of the kingdom and gain entry through the two requirements of Rev 14:12 and 22:14. Now we should not think we can leave it to our last moment then cry out for forgiveness when we had the information and opportunity to repent before. Remember, those who know to do good and do not it is sin.
t is similar to king David and Bathsheba the wife of Uriah. He transgressed the law; but once repented and forgiven by God, it was not held against him. This was the same as his other transgressions i.e. of numbering Israel. He was a man after God’s heart having the fear of God to the extent he refused to harm God’s anointed, king Saul.
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Php 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. I will return to this scripture in closing.
Some people use the excuse what you do not know does not hurt you i.e. if they did not know they were sinning God would forgive them. The scripture some use in support of this error is Act 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:.
We should not harken to pastors, bible commentaries or commentators who teach that concept or try to cancel what James said about works and faith. Clearly people are always getting accidentally injured by something or someone they did not know. There is a whole insurance and legal industry based on injury by accident. Not to mention Matthew 7:23 where many calling Lord Lord were rejected for doing iniquity.
Acts 17:30 clearly limits the ignorance to one event “this ignorance”. That of verse 29. Act 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
Repentance is a clear message in the bible. It goes as far to say Luk 13:3 and 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Without repentance one perishes whether through lack of knowledge as said in Hosae 4:6 or with the knowledge.
You have heard the knowledge of the truth. You are in a country that has access to bibles. Do not excuse yourselves by asking about those in the rain forests or other remote places. That is for God not you.
I hope I have given you sufficient information in a simple enough way for you to understand the need to keep the commandments of YHWH God as written in the book of Exodus 24:7. As not to is to sin. Though keeping them in themselves does not save you. One also needs the faith of Yahshua the son. The book as written in Exodus 24:7 did not include the need for male circumcision of Gentiles unless they wanted to keep the Passover. Remember Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. AND Rev 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Act 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God (of one’s sins), and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
So brethren let us cheerfully do the advice of Act 26:20 … repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.
- A few weeks ago, a Pentecostal bishop, was asked a question regarding the keeping of the Sabbath. He replied worshipping on a Saturday does not make one more saved than worshipping on a Sunday. He added that salvation is nothing to do with him as Christ has already paid the price. In other words nothing one can do affects their salvation. He may be using Eph 2:8 as a basis. I have better covered this point in another study titled “Not Under The Law”. I disagree with his conclusion. Then why would God request things of us? The bible tells us there is much we can do to affect our salvation. Stop stealing and doing unlawful things. No whoremonger, adulterer or murderer will enter heaven. So there is a lot we can do or should not do. Firstly, the difference between worshipping on the Seventh day (which most call Saturday) and the first, called Sunday, is the former is in obedience to God’s instructions in Exodus 20:8 and other places and Sunday or any other day is disobedience. Disobedience clearly affects one’s salvation. As regards what one can do; does repenting and turning from sin, from disobeying Him not affect our salvation? When Jonah was sent to Nineveh, did their repenting not affect their salvation? There are numerous verses in the bible confirming there is something one can do to affect their salvation 2 Chronicles 6:26; 7:14; Eze 3:20; but the one I will use is god speaking in Eze 33:14 Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right; Eze 33:15 If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die. Eze 33:16 None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.
So we must stop listening to these leaders who desire to be teachers of the law; but do not understand about what they are talking (1 Tim 1:7).
God killed or punished individuals (Num 15:32) and the nation of Israel for not keeping His Sabbaths. He changes not and is the same yesterday, today and forever. One rule for all humans otherwise some can claim He is unjust.
Now back to Heb 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. The warning clearly says if you sin after you have received the knowledge of the truth. Not after you have believed or accepted it. Not after you have started to do it and then stopped; but after you were merely told of it what is sin. Well you have been told so I leave it you to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Now I know some of you may say one has to first understand and if they do not this is a loop hole. Well the verse does not say after you have understood merely received i.e in your ears like a letter through your post box regardless of whether you open it.
Before some of you draw attention to “sin wilfully” to imply understanding is needed, let me say wilfully simply means to have been told and then to disobey. Similarly to a little child told not to touch the fire, cross the road or move from a spot. If they do the contrary they have wilfully sinned despite not having the intelligence to understand why you gave the instruction.
I wish you all eternal life. Bearing in mind Yahweh God’s Word of Life (scripture) gives us many things to do. Call on the right name, keep certain ways of life, do not be deceived etc. Since there is only one name on which we are to call (specific sound see 1Cor 14:7) that has the power to save, I suggest we learn and use it, the certain ways of life and avoid deceived.
Request the artilce “BAPTISM, A CALLING OR SAVING? Which has additional scriptures to support this study or read in Study tab.
Shalom.
For afternoon discussion Rom 11:26 “ … There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness” i.e. disobedience and sinning. Rom 2:4 … not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (knowledge, acceptance of what is sin then repent. Say sorry, turn away from and not repeat). Rev 3:19
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and (then?) be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and (then?) ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (If one does not learn, accept what is sin, can repent and turn from it. Then may miss out on gift which many unrepented law breakers claim to have).
